About UNPA

The major goal of the University Neighborhood Preservation Association (UNPA), is to help families and individuals purchase a home in the Syracuse University area. UNPA administers an assistance grant program to help with down-payments and/or closing costs. Our only requirement is owner-occupancy.

Incorporated in 1990, the University Neighborhood Preservation Association is a not-for-profit corporation that is tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Our Mission

The mission of UNPA, affirmed in 1990, and reaffirmed in 1996, is:

(1) to market the University Neighborhood as a good place to live

(2) to promote owner-occupancy of houses in the area east of Syracuse University

(3) to provide financial incentives to do so

(4) to partner with municipal agencies and other neighborhood organizations who also have a stake in the health, safety and welfare of the neighborhood
